David Nygren

David Nygren, PhD, established Nygren Consulting, LLC in 2007 after ten years as Senior Partner at Mercer Delta Consulting, LLC where he was the founding leader of the Corporate Governance Consulting Group.  He specializes in board effectiveness, organizational strategy, and executive leadership.

Prior Experience

Before joining Mercer Delta Consulting, David was the Executive Vice President at DePaul University, where he was awarded rank and tenure in the department of Psychology, teaching organizational theory, leadership, and corporate governance.

David became a Member of the corporation of DePaul University, Chicago in 1991, a trustee of St. John’s University, New York in 1992, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design in 1995, director of the Jesuit School of Theology of Santa Clara University in 2004, and Chairman of the Board of the National Association of Corporate Directors Northern California in 2005.  

Additionally, David has held research and teaching appointments at Boston University Graduate School of Management, Yale University’s Program on Non-Profit Governance and Finance, Harvard University New President’s Program Faculty, the Association of Governing Boards of Independent Colleges and Universities, American Symphony Orchestra League, American Hospital Association and the Haas Graduate School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley.

Keeping Current on Governance

David serves as a member of the Board of the National Association of Corporate Directors Northern California Chapter.  He is Chairman of the Board of Directors of BoardSource, a director of the Ojai Music Festival, and an honorary member of the Board of Larkin Street Youth Services.

As a social and organizational psychologist, David has investigated such topics as multi-institutional health system governance, mergers and acquisition integration, board competence, and the competencies of outstanding leaders.
